How To Make Silage
- Harvest high-quality forage when it’s in excess of feed requirements.
- Wilt the forage to 30% dry matter (DM).
- Chop the forage into short lengths (1–3 cm).
- Compact the forage as tightly as possible to remove air.
- Cover the forage with a thick plastic sheet.
- Weigh down the forage
- Wait for the forage to ferment
